Top chef introduces East Anglian flavour at Bedford Lodge

The best East Anglian produce cooked to perfection by a top chef – that’s the promise of Bedford Lodge Hotel’s award winning Orangery restaurant in Newmarket following the appointment of Adrian Doughty as executive chef.

Under Adrian’s direction, the restaurant at the four-star hotel which has already earned a prestigious AA rosette, offers a menu of mouth-watering dishes all made with the freshest seasonal ingredients from local suppliers.

Adrian, who has 20 years’ culinary experience, joins Bedford Lodge from the Sheene Mill Hotel and Restaurant in Melbourne, Cambridgeshire where he worked as head chef under owner and master chef Stephen Saunders.

He says: “At Sheene Mill I learnt the finer details of food, keeping it simple and placing the emphasis on tastes. I hope to build on the Orangery’s already excellent reputation by adding another rosette to its name.”

Speaking about Adrian’s appointment, TV chef Steven Saunders said: “Adrian has worked alongside me for the last 18 months and has absorbed the knowledge I have gained from working in places like Asia and along some of the finest chefs in Thailand. Adrian leaves me as 'an advocate' of my tuition and my finest protege ever!”

Adrian continues: “At the Orangery we use the best seasonal East Anglian produce and it is my aim to work with as many local suppliers as possible. The secret of good food is not to complicate things. High quality ingredients speak for themselves and whether it’s a prawn sandwich or a three course dinner, we will always serve the best.”

In addition to the Orangery restaurant, Bedford Lodge Hotel has three self- contained banqueting suites for up to 200 guests and offers with extensive menus and wine lists for all occasions.
