Early Evidence of industrial Britain uncovered in Essex

Two thousand year old Roman artefacts have been unearthed at one of the UK's largest archaeological digs, which took place at the DP World London Gateway super port and business park development near Thurrock in South Essex

A team of 36 archaeologists excavated a piece of land 30 times the size of Trafalgar Square, discovering Iron Age and Roman salt-making sites, thought to be some of the earliest pieces of evidence of industrial activity in Britain.
