In May, Mosaic donated £200 to a charity called Shout, which was nominated by our Senior Graphic Designer, Umit Souleyman.

Shout is a free, confidential, 24/7, in-the-moment text support service for anyone in the UK who is feeling overwhelmed by issues such as depression, bullying, anxiety, relationship problems, addiction and self-harm.

Although not able to offer therapy, trained volunteers are on hand 24/7 to connect with those who have reached out to the charity; to chat to them via text and help them devise a plan that will assist them in moving forward.

Why we chose to support Shout

Commenting on why he chose Shout as his charity, Umit said: “There is currently a huge demand in the UK for mental health support, which is often not available when people need it the most. NHS waiting lists are months, even years long, which is of no help to someone experiencing a mental health crisis.

“Shout bridges the gap by providing that much needed, in-the-moment mental health support to people who are at a loss to know what to do. Although not able to offer therapy, being able to express the overwhelming emotions being experienced to someone who understands and can offer empathy and support, can be enough to help someone through their most difficult moments, until longer term support can be accessed.”

Shout, which launched in 2019, is the first service from digital mental health charity, Mental Health Innovations, which was founded in 2017 with the support of the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales.
