R Gwinnell & Son, who own 8 funeral branches and 5 other funeral brands across Essex and Suffolk – AR Clarke, Colne Valley, GW Hardy, Harvey Darke and Martins of Clare – required a fresh website design, plus the creation of individual websites for each of its funeral brands.

With an existing website with poor optimisation and low visitor numbers, Mosaic’s brief was to develop a new website which could be found easily by search engines, drive more traffic and give visitors a better and more streamlined user experience.

With the 6 new websites live, Mosaic continues to support R Gwinnell & Sons with search engine optimisation, website content management, plus local PR.


Mosaic developed a website template for R Gwinnell & Son, which was adapted for each of its funeral brands; reflecting brand colour palettes and featuring professional imagery.

We purposefully avoided making the website design too sombre, instead keeping it clean, bright and modern with a striking image carousel on each homepage. We ensured that any historical photos of each branch were featured, to portray the longevity and trustworthiness of the business.

More importantly, the content of the website was developed to offer a hub of information – making it easy for visitors to understand the process of organising a funeral for their loved one and take away any stress at a sad time.
